Soma, the water of the Moon, is being consumed by Agni, the fire of the Sun.

On a new moon, the Sun and Moon merge and become One.  This union creates a special yoga that represents completion.

Immediately thereafter, the moon turns away from her Beloved and begins her new cycle of discovery outwards. This new cycle begins in Anuradha nakshatra, which occupies the centre part of Sidereal (Vedic) Scorpio. Scorpio is typically a turbulent place for the moon where it can form many emotional attachments, but the energy of Anuradha is very gentle.

In Sanskrit, Anuradha means ‘to worship’ or ‘ever devoted’.  There is a beautiful capacity in this part of the zodiac for a blossoming to occur; as the symbol of Anuradha is a lotus flower.  Within the dark muds and deep waters of Scorpio; this exquisite flower can take root and find its expression.  The lesson, is to consider what it is we are directing our devotion towards? We can focus all of our attention on our romantic partner, for example, and despite all of our love and care, they may still disappoint us, as we live in an imperfect world. We can name many examples of misplaced devotion….

The invitation of this new cycle is to realign our devotion with something that is eternal, something that can only be generated from our highest sense of self. Be it, the happiness you feel when you go outside and connect with nature or the joy that you feel by helping someone without expecting anything in return, or from carving out time to sit and take in the sunset. Whatever it is, make it regular. Find that connection point that you can plug back into this month. Your Source.

Retrograde Mars is directly opposing this moon; which can amplify frustrations and create sharp communication, especially in relationship. We can use Mars retrograde to contemplate the true source of our inner anger. This fire can be directed towards putting our Intentions into Action.

Today, Jupiter also turned direct after being retrograde since the end of July at almost the exact same moment that the moon turned new! This marks our next journey with positive expansion and growth where we can purify our feelings and find gentleness & wisdom from within the depths of emotional turmoil. We are here to grow & that’s all. We are here to find the blessing in the lesson, which will eventually flower as peace. Even glimpses count!
