Full Moon in Sidereal Cancer, Vedic Astrology Forecast
The Sanskrit translation of Ashlesha is ‘the Clinging Star’. It has the coiling quality of an embrace that comes from the depth of longing in the heart to hold someone or something. It is located in the last portion of Cancer in the Sidereal Zodiac and is associated with the constellation of Hydra, which the ancients from the Greeks to the Babylonians revered as the ‘Feminine Water Snake’.
The symbols of Ashelsha are a coiled serpent, a spiral moving inwards and also outwards, a full circle, a wheel, an orobouros. The ‘Shakti’ or power of this constellation is ‘the power to embrace the poison’. How fascinating is that? Where in our lives do we encounter poison?
Most often, it is within our own minds in the form of negativity and in toxic emotional patterns. Like serpents, people with planets in Ashlesha can be very sensitive to sounds, vibrations, and the energy of others. They literally can absorb it all and they need to learn how to let negativity flow through them, giving it back to the earth as compost.
This full moon time can make us all a little bit more sensitive and emotionally vulnerable, like every full moon, but especially being in Ashlesha. It is a time to observe the things we may be clinging onto too tightly, whether it be excessive desire, attachments or other people. We can observe, which of these feelings may be spiralling around us and veiling our mental clarity and intuition.
One of the universal symbols of healing is a snake coiled around a staff. As they ritually shed their skin, snakes symbolize rejuvenation. Healing modalities like homeopathy and also some plant medicines require us to ingest small amounts of poison for immunity and transformational breakthroughs to occur.
Ashlesha is also associated with the Kundalini energy which in Yogic texts is shown as a coiled serpent at the base of the spine. At this point in the zodiac, this dormant life force or divine intelligence has the potential to awaken up the spine and through the chakras. The word Chakra means wheel, another symbol of Ashlesha.
Meditation, kundalini yoga, ceremony and healing with herbs, tinctures or potions are especially auspicious during this full moon.
There will only be one and on rare occasions, two full moons per year in the sign of Cancer. This is the moon’s own zodiac sign where it is especially bright and comfortable. It is a potent time to connect with the feminine, lunar side of ourselves. The Cancer zodiac is all about the inner temple of our being and our heart space. It is a very supportive time to connect and listen deeply to our inner voice and the messages of the heart.
